*remembering* My very early contact with music was at the age of 3,
my father listened to Deep Purple, Black Sabbath such stuff so i got
influenced, but wasn't interested in becoming an "active" listener, then
in '84 i heard Accept "Balls To The Wall" and the virus infected me
immediately, laugh, next was intense paying of attention to radio,
Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, typical stuff available at that time, but rapidly
i got overwhelmed by an urgent need for more extreme "drugs", faster,
heavier, louder, discovered Speed / Thrash late 80s also Death Metal.

Faves (only from 80s):

Hardrock: Gary Moore, Scorpions (esp. the more raw live stuff)
Heavy Metal: see above, Running Wild, Helloween, Grave Digger,
King Diamond, Saxon
Speed / Thrash: Destruction, Kreator, Sodom, Slayer, Megadeth, Exciter,
Metallica (first 4), Agent Steel, Anthrax, Onslaught,
Testament, Exodus, Living Death, Sepultura,
Flotsam & Jetsam, Tankard......
Death Metal: Death (of course), Possessed, Celtic Frost, end of '89
Morbid Angel, Pestilence.....
Grindcore: Napalm Death
Some of my faves from the 80's (Bathory, Riot, Heathen) i didn't know
or ignored them during that decade but discovered them later, luckily.

aye i remember my dad listening to Pink Floyd and i'm sure it was the album Meddle that started me. After that is was rock and heavy metal. Now granted i always had a soft spot for classical but it was heavy metal and rock for me.

I like too many kinds of music... Confused
don't make me ever choose.... I just can't.

it doesn't matter if it's electronic, classical, rock, metal, latin, jazz, soul,...
if it's not emostuff (like screamo and emocore), gothic metal/rock or schlagers, then I like it Razz

I started out with soundtracks... the first LP I bought was the ST to "Airwolf"... Wink
Then I started listening to (and taping) stuff from the radio; my favorite was one station that played the TOP 40s over 3hrs or so.
Then some indifferent listening to metal and/or rock, whatever.
Then soundtracks again.
These days I mostly listen to STs and what gets sometimes called Symphonic Metal. I actually like most of the stuff they're playing on DFM, but I'd like it more if they stopped.. uh... singing. Razz

I grew up in the 80's, so most of my early childhood music is 80's current. My mom was a big Neil Diamond fan, so we always had the new one (Heartlight came out in the 80's).

The 80's is pretty much what formed my musical basis. I grew up with Michael and Janet Jackson, Amy Grant, The Bangles, Gloria Estefan, Whitney Houston, Air Supply and so many more.

While I enjoy a much broader range of music these days, the 80's is nearly always where I go when I'm reminiscing.
