Should we update the TPR image to show progress?
Yes! I like that! More intuitive and obvious!

Nah. It's not really needed, and I wouldn't like it.

Hi Everyone,

Currently, after a track from an album has played, the green "Request Now" button simply changes to a red "Track Played Recently" image. If you mouse over the image, you get some tool tip text which tells you when the track played, and how long before it can be requested again.

There's nothing wrong with this interface currently. However, I think an improvement could be made.

This image could be replaced with 9 PNG's to show the progress towards being requestable again. Essentially, instead of having to "mouse over" to get the tool tip text, the Requestable Again information would be provided by one of the 9 images, based on how long remains until the track turns green. These would each have 10% increments subtly shaded in the background of where the "Track Played Recently" text is.

For example, right after a song has played, there would be a noticeable shading only behind the 'T' of "Track Played" recently (for 9 days before it can be requested again). Come back tomorrow, and the 'T' and 'r' would now have subtle back-shading (for 8 days until it can be requested). 5 days after it played, all the letters in 'Track' would be back-shaded (along with the 'R' 'e' and 'c' in "Recently"). By the time 'Track' 'Played' and 'Recently' are all back-shaded, the track would be about to turn green again.

It might also help to have the back-shading color change slightly, for easy reading. For instance, at 30% (that's 6 days until the song can be requested again), 'T' 'r' and 'a' in 'Track' might be a shade of magenta, while 'c' 'k' and 'P' would be slightly brighter (normal pink) at 60% (3 days until it can be requested), and 'l' 'a' 'y' would be brightest (hot pink) as the track is about to change back to green. This color contrast is optional, but it might be helpful. Wink

Pink is just a suggestion in keeping with the 1980s.FM site colors-- I'd expect Blue to be used for SST, Gray for Death.FM, and so on.

It wouldn't affect the Favorite Track lists much-- since these can be sorted by availability anyhow (Thanks again for that, Abe! Cool).

The biggest benefit would be that, at a glance, you could instantly and intuitively tell how long before the songs from an album are available again from your Favorite Album(s), or ordinary Albums.

Another benefit is that you are less likely to accidentally click a green Request Now button for a different track, when you just want to know how long it will be before some other song from the same album becomes available.

What do you all think? Is this a feature you would like to see? Or, are you happy with the current feature the way it is?

Please vote and let us know.

Of course, the back-shading color(s) wouldn't have to match the sites directly. The color changes could go from red to green (maroon, brick red, pink, orange, orange-yellow, yellow, lime green, green, sea green), which would give all sites the same look and appearance. Wink
